2012 Premiers!

So, for the 2012 AFL grand final, I actually booked the day off work 2 months in advance because after working every one since I started working, I decided I deserved one off. I had no idea at the time that my team, the Swans would be playing, but only hoped things would go my way...And well, yeah they kind of won the grand final, so they are 2012 premiers and I am one very happy chappy, maybe I should book this day off every year? See if this is a new lucky charm of sorts lol. Although it is sad to see the season come to and end, now I have nothing better to watch on my weekends...damn!

Although I don't own an iphone, i do have an ipod touch, so I updated it with this ios6 update shit...honestly, Apple, what were you guys thinking! I thought that the software was working fine, so if it isn't broken, don't fix it! They only did this because the new iphone has this software...really, couldn't just use the same software, you guys just had to inconvenience everyone with your shit update...in fact, the update jams some of my apps, so Apple's update has taken my perfectly functioning I-pod, and made it so mu apps no longer work, thanks guys, you sure are geniuses...Now I have to wait for app updates to be released before they are functioning again...This is why I urge everyone to use android rather than apple. On a sidenote, Samsung also released a software update, except theirs actually works...

Well, I don't really have much else to talk about, because as mentioned, Apple destroyed my Apps, so I don't have anything to talk about in terms of reading and watching stuff...Maybe some more stuff coming soon, when they fix this issue

Anyways, until next time :)

Lockdown is Over!

So, after one busy week, my assessments are done...for now! Which is great, because it's time for the Grand Final on Saturday, and I am so glad I get to watch it, instead of working like every other year.

So what's doing? Nothing much. I actually don't have an awful lot to talk about at the moment...well this is awkward...

Due to recent scanlating releases, I have now finished Ruri no Kaze ni Hana wa Nagareru, it was one of the series I started reading long ago, before I started this blog. Anyway, I don't know what to think. Overall, I feel the story had so much potential, and the fact that it has finished is just disappointing. I was reading the end notes by the mangaka, and they said that there were many characters and stories that weren't introduced because of length restrictions (ending at 3 volumes). Alas, the reader is left thinking what may have been. Also, the one thing that annoyed me more than anything, was that the main story finished mid-sentence! At least finish the sentence...although, that may have been a translation issue rather than the actual story. Oh well.

Anyways, that's about it for now, until next time :)

Gangnam Style

Yes, I have jumped on the bandwagon! To be honest, everyone has been talking about it. It seems that everyone either loves it or hates it, so to quench my curiosity, I went onto Youtube to answer my questions... For the hell of it, here is one of many copies on youtube:

There a few things... Firstly, is this legit. Like is this a serious thing, or is it like the Lonely Island who just take the piss out of everything. I don't speak Korean, so I have no clue what the hell is going on except for the words 'Gangnam style' and 'sexy lady'. I have looked up translation lyrics and it doesn't make sense!! What the hell am I reading. I actually think that this is a serious attempt at music that just doesn't quite look right.

Another thing, I reckon this guy in Gangnam Style is possibly the biggest pimp going around. Watching the video clip, he has all these hot as chicks dancing with him and around him. An the real world, this would not happen, hence why I think he is a pimp. Also the elevator bit is just plain suss...

Anyways, I just had to rant about it, until next time :)

Such A Shame

Ah, I feel so annoyed that when I finally get a uni break, I have to spend the whole time doing work on assessments. I swear when Lecturers get the time table, they see the mid semester break, and put assessments to be due to week after so we actually don't get a break, because we have to research and do oh so fun stuff like that.

Moving on, I can't tell you how happy that the Swans are in the AFL grand final! YAY! Hopefully they can win it and make my next weekend a happy one :)

I also saw three minutes of Jack and Jill, another Adam Sandler movie...I only watched 3 minutes because lets just say I hope Adam Sandler sticks to his own gender in the future...it was just too weird.

With Ouke no Monshou, I have given up on it for now as I got to chapter 58 and realized that there is a chuck of chapters missing between 58-66, so I will wait before continuing. For what I have read, I love to see the art progression from beginning to chapter 58, it's just so much better compared to the beginning. I quite like the story, I am a fan of historical fiction, so this one was much enjoyable.

Although I say this quite often, I will try to update a bit more regularly in the future, but we'll see how I go :)

Anyways, until next time :)

Reel Festival

Ok, so what's the go. Well, I went to the Reel Festival at Cinema Nova yesterday. Myself, along with a few friends saw 'Children who Chase Lost Voices' and I thought it was absolutely brilliant.

I won't write too much on it now, because I intend to write a short film review as part of my university assessment for one of my subjects, so maybe in a week after it's all done, I might post it up here. A few things, the ending song was a few keys too high, so the last few minutes were excruciating to my ears, although the lyrics fitted the ending well, the voice ruined it (sorry, but it did) and also, the cutest little fucker is in this movie here is what i am talking about:
How cute is it!! Just saying!! ^^^^^^^^^^^

Anyway, moving on, I finished reading all the translated chapters of Komatta Toki ni wa Hosho ni Kike. What can I say, I definitely haven't read anything like that before, as I previously said I thought that the characters were very interesting and I can't remember the last time I read a series that didn't have a crybaby lead...regardless of what genre. Nothing annoys me more than the lead crying every 3 pages. I also thought the art was quite interesting, very different, the art is very strong. I really like the eyes and how they are drawn. I like the ambiguity of the relationships between all the characters, I thought the mangaka could have done so much with this ambiguity, and to an extent it works, but there is just a bit too much mystery within the characters personalities. Just saying. But it was rather enjoyable nonetheless.

Anyways, that's about it for now, until next time :)

A Very Bad Day in the Life of...

Me! So, I thought I would post something that I wrote that I thought is funny now, but definately not at the time it happened. So some background info, my sister's boyfriend was staying at our house for the night, and this is what happened the next morning when I woke up. Although the events were true, the tone of the conversation is completely sarcastic

"Oh, it is f*****g on!! Get up coz I have uni at some bulls**t early time, so I'm already in a s**t mood, then I make my cereal, coz that's my routine, open the fridge, there is no milk!! Look around to see what has happened to said milk. Sisters boyfriend has used all the milk for his own cereal. It's not like it was a small amount of milk, it was a good half litre, which is more than enough for two bowls of cereal, but that mother f****r used it all. Now there is a bowl of used milk sitting in the sink and a very angry me. Why must I suffer like this in my own house!
so after the cereal saga, I want to go to the bathroom so I could brush my teeth and do all the stuff I need to do to get ready. Sisters boyfriend had been in the bathroom since I woke up which, was a good 20 minutes ago. Not only does this f****r take all my milk, but he is now depriving me of my basic hygiene...world.war 3 is about to begin.
For the record, there was soymilk in the fridge, but soymilk tastes like someone has drank it, spatbit back out, pissed in it and put it back in the fridge
And the is only one slice of bread...so for breakfast I can either have one slice of toast or half a sandwich. Why must I deal with this bulls**t."
As you can see, I have censored it for obvious reasons.

Anyways, busy weekend just passed with me working and other commitments as such, so I really haent done anything else other than eat sleep, and work, I feel like I am a zombie.

Anyways, thats about it for now, until next time :)

Mid-Semester Break

Ok, so even if it only a week, I am glad to be getting a break...on the plus side, I don't have to go to uni, on the downside, all my assessments are due straight after I get back...wow this is bad...looks like my week off just went bye bye...

Unfortunately, my life has just been pretty standard lately, in terms of reading, nothing new, I am alternating between Komatta Toki nu wa Hoshi ni Kike and Ouke no Monshou (Crest of the Royal Family), which are both extremely long series, Ouke no Monshou is listed at 57 volumes on hiatus, which means it might not even be finished yet...luckily no where near all of it is scanlated just yet, so no worries for me at the moment...

Anyways, watch this space, something interesting might come up, especially after the weekend, or next Tuesday, when me and my friends do shenanigans in amigos, the Mexican restaurant.

Until next time :)

Gremlins

Haha, After the week I have had, I felt like one! It has been so busy that when I got home last night I was walking around my house like a gremlin because it hurt everywhere...That's what you get when you work a job that needs you standing for 10 hours straight, but enough about that...

Despite the fact that I had to crawl to my front door last night, some good came out of the day, and that is Sydney Swans winning their qualifying final which means they get to play for a spot in the grand final! Yay! Made even better by the fact that I got to work and watch it (not live, only on television) at the same time...makes my day slightly better.

Still Watching Marmalade Boy, started watching part two the other day (there are three parts) so I am not even half way still. I love how over dramatized everything is. You got the dramatic music in the background and everything takes longer because just as something is about to happen the shot changes to another angle so you have to wait a few more seconds and then it changes again and then you have to wait a few more seconds...Gosh, if they just got to the point instead of showing the same thing 6 different times, you could fit a lot more story, not that I am complaining, because it is a good show, but I guess that's just how things were done in the 90's.

Moving on, I have read what is available in English (so about 13 chapters) of Mok Yuna's Honeymoon Diary. From my understanding there is a prequel, but that doesn't exist in the English scanlated world. Just like any other manhwa I have read, it pretty much involves the male and female lead belting the crap out of one another, although this one involves some technique as martial arts is involved. Basically Mok Yuna's mother owns a dojang and is hell bent on making Mok Yuna the heir, but she has no interest, instead wanting to become a housewife of sorts. Her mother places the dojang above her daughter, and marries her off to some Jiang Jin (I think that is his name) and thus the story begins...After 13 chapters this is pretty much all that has happened, but hey, what do yo expect when it is 13 volumes long?!

Anyway, that's about it for now, until next time :)

28 Parmagianas

Haha, I thought that was a joke! I was working, minding my own business, then BOOM!! Some guy comes up to me, and orders 28 chicken parmigiana. At first I thought he was joking because the chef just asked me to sell another 25 meals for the night, but he was dead serious. Needless to say, the chef and I had a good laugh at the timing of the incident, but that was about as eventful as my days have been.

Although admittedly, uni has been rather interesting. We have been discussing how 50 shades of grey has re-invigorated the erotic fiction market...most awkward lessons ever!

Anyway, I have been reading a manhwa 'My Girl' by Paek Jeong Won and is 5 volumes long. It is about a high school girl who disguises herself as supermodel Jinny in order to persue a career in modelling/acting. Outside of being Jinny, Ahjin is very athletic, sporty and is sometimes mistaken for a boy because of her interest and her short pixie haircut. She soon falls for classmate and 'school idol' Dohoon who is a notorious playboy who is fond of Jinny, unknown to him that she is Ahjin. The story then follows the two as Ahjin's identity is revealed to first Dohoon, then everyone through a online scandal report. Ahjin's father, who lectures at a university in England, catches wind of Ahjin's modelling and secret identity, and forces her to quit modelling and acting. It is later revealed that Ahjin's mother was killed by a freak accident while acting, but Ahjin's father soon realises that Ahjin is meant to model and allows her to pursue her career. I quite liked the art, I thought it was quite cute, and the story of the secret identity was quite interesting. I didn't like any of the male characters though. I also have no clue what happened for the latter part of the story, mainly because the scans didn't make much sense, so I had no clue what really happened.

Anyway, that's about it for now, until next time :)

Sunday 2 September 2012

Finally, a Full Update!

Oh hey! So as promised, I am updating this blog before the end of the weekend (just barely). Turned out to be a rather busy weekend, but not because it was father's day, but work... I know it always seems like I am at either work or uni, and that's probably because I am...being a broke uni student doesn't allow all that much time for a social life.

Well, unlike previous attempts, I have actually continued reading Komatta Toki ni wa Hoshi ni Kike, just a few chapters a day (although the chapters are long as hell). Just briefly, the story pretty much follows Takara and Kiyomine, two completely opposite, yet hot headed boys and the shenanigans (love that word) that them and their fellow students endure, all while adjusting to life in the dormitory. I am enjoying it very much, much more than I thought ( I was very apprehensive about the Shounen Ai tag) but i am quite enjoying the banter between the characters. The personality the mangaka has given the characters work well with each other which makes it quite a pleasant read. It is a very laid back pace. One thing I don't like about it is the lack of plot and drama. I WAS PROMISED DRAMA!! Oh well....

Also, I have finished watching Chihayafuru and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I am so psyched about the second season that is being made...It actually stuck very closely to the manga. Watching the anime also made me understand what the hell Karuta is, as I previously did not understand how it worked. I am now in suspense, like anyone who has read/seen it in how this massive love triangle will end. On a side note, two characters that I love and wish to see more of are Sudo (lol he is such a sadist) "Empress" Miyauchi.

So, as I have finished Chihayafuru, I have now started to watch Marmalade Boy...Oh my god, I absolutely love it. I love the story, obviously, having read the manga, but I love the generation gap between the time it was made in 1994 and now. Looking at their clothes and the culture back then, I can't help but have a laugh to myself...Anyways, I am glad that there is 76 episodes for me to enjoy.

Anyways, that's about it for now, until next time :)
